The
bear is an intriguing creature that inspires both awe and fear! The grizzly can
weigh 500 - 1200 lbs. while the polar bear can exceed 1300 lbs.! Bears hibernate
5-6 months during the winter. During this time period--actually called a "torpor"--the
bear doesn't drink water or expel liquid, yet it is able to feed its young and
retain 90% of its muscular strength. A human laid up in bed for just a month will
lose 90% of muscle strength. Scientists have not figured out how the bear can
do this, yet evolutionary belief is that the bear evolved from a "dog-like"
ancestor. Dogs certainly cannot behave this way! God designed the bear and it
did not evolve from anything else. If some "dog-like" creature had tried
to "hibernate" just once, it would not have been able to survive an
attack or search for food afterwards. And dead animals do not evolve.
